A little bit about me:
I draw and I paint because I can’t not tbh. I make art in one form or another most days. I make no apologies for painting happy storybook style images using as much colour as I can possibly throw in.
Wonky houses appear everywhere in my work. These multicoloured houses represent for me the differences and the similarities of every household. I believe those differences put together make for an interesting and balanced picture.
‘Rolling hills and wonky houses’ are painted using Acrylic medium on prepared wooden panels. Small framed pictures in this style are available to buy direct via the website. Individually designed, each one is unique and is painted in exactly the same way and in the same style as the Street Bench that stands out side Freckles on Barrow High Street. Where as my cards, prints, colouring pages and logos are created in digital format.
I took part in the original ‘Windows on’ courtyard exhibition in Leicester in 2010. I’ve had work exhibited at The Sock Gallery Open in Loughborough and I’ve exhibited and sold work at The New Walk Museum Gallery Open in Leicester. I was Artist in Residence at the amazing Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough for 7 years [from 2010 I created 14 storybook style designs for their walls] and I’ve taken part in The Loogabarooga Children’s Illustration Festival a couple of times with my good friend Gary Place. I was also lucky enough to be selected to paint a larger than life Fox Sculpture for the Fosse Foxes Art Trail at Fosse Park (after almost 3 years on the Mall, the ‘Fox in Socks’ retired in early 2024 and now stands proudly at the entrance to Rainbows, welcoming visitors) I’ll paint anything tbh, in 2024 I decorated one of those Zigzag Donations Box with wonky houses for the local Library (see top pic) and a 3D wildlife design now stands on Platform 2 at Barrow Train Station. This features local wildlife including: A baby Muntjac Deer, a Fox and 2 Hares. The artwork was was created with the help of friends Nick and Annette (both fellow Station Adopters) and 96 members of the Barrow Community. Thanks to every one who painted individual flowers and leaves to complete the piece (See below). Each beautiful flower has the artist’s initials written on the side
I hope you enjoy my work. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch
